TendonsThe tendons are fibrous cords, similar to a string, and are made of collagen. They have blood vessels and cells to maintain the health of the tendon and repair the injured tendon. Tenants join muscles and bones. As the muscle contracts the tendon and tendon moves the bone to which it is attached, as well as any joint that crosses. Skip to:Flexorum digitorum profundus (FDP) tendonsFDP tendons help bend the index, center, ring, and small fingers in the joint of the tip of the finger. The muscle that moves these tendons is a common muscle belly shared by all fingers. Muscle belly is divided into 4 tendons. They ran through the forearm and into the carpal tunnel. The four tendons slide in pods along the hand and fingers and insert into the bone at the tip of the fingers. These tendons run closer to the bone compared to the rest of the flexors in the hand and fingers. Learn more about . Superficial flexible digits (FDS) EPEDC tendons straighten the index, medium, ring and small fingers. A common muscle belly is shared by all fingers. The tendons travel through the forearm through a hard band of tissue over the wrist. The tissue band, or retinaculum, keeps the tendons in place but allows them to slide up and down the arm. The four tendons continue along the back of the hand and on each finger. On your finger, the ends of other tendons beginning in your hand unite with them to make your fingers move. Together, these combined tendons spread their fingers in the joints of the three fingers. Extensor digiti minimi (EDM) tended The EDM straightens the small finger. It works with the digitorum communis extender to the small finger. Muscle belly is on the forearm. The tendon travels through a hard band or retinate on the wrist and then in the hand. The tissue band, or retinaculum, keeps the tendons in place but allows them to slide up and down the arm. It works with other tendons that join the dorsum or the back of the finger to straighten the three small joints of the fingers. Less than 50% of people are born with this tendon. Indicis proprius (EIP) tendon The EIP tendon straightens the index finger. It works with the digitorum communis extender to the index finger. It has its own muscle belly on the forearm and then as it becomes a tendon, it travels through a hard band, or retinate, on the wrist. The tissue band, or retinaculum, keeps the tendons in place but allows them to slide up and down the arm. Travel by hand and stick to the back of the index finger to straighten the three index finger joints. The tendon of longus abductor contaminants (APL) The APL tendon runs on the radial side of the wrist (the side of the thumb is on). Your muscle belly is on the forearm and then travels inside a hard band, or retinate, through the wrist. The tissue band, or retinaculum, keeps the tendons in place but allows them to slide up and down the arm. It attaches to the metacarpal bone of the thumb and helps to remove the thumb from the rest of the hand. This tendon along with the brevis extensive policies may be inflated and painful. The name for when these 2 tendons are inflamed is . Long pulley (FPL) The FPL tendon doubles the thumb. It's unique to humans. It starts as a muscle on the forearm and then travels as a tendon on the wrist through the carpal tunnel. It is then covered by a tunnel, or pod, and inserted into the most distal bone (more far from your body) in your thumb. Extensive longus chicks (EPL) tended The EPL straightens the most distal joint (beyond its body) of the thumb. His muscle belly is on the forearm and the tendon travels along the wrist and enters into the third band compartment that keeps the tendons in position on the wrist. Then travel around a prominent part of the radial bone that acts like a pulley. It's called Lister's tuberculosis. The tendon then adheres to the most distal bone of the thumb. Extensive brevis chicks (EPB) tended The EPB tendon, along with the APL, also removes the thumb from the hand. The EPB tendon is on the forearm and then runs on the radial side of the wrist. This tendon also travels in the first compartment of the band that keeps the tendons in position on the wrist. It is inflamed in the condition called . Flexible Carpi Tip (FCR) The FCR tendon is one of the two tendons that fold the wrist. His muscle belly is on the forearm and then travels inside the forearm and crosses the wrist. It adheres to the base of the second and third hand bones. Also attached to one of the bones of the wrist, the trapeze. Flexible Carpi Consor (FCU) The FCU tendon is one of the two tendons that bend the wrist. His muscle belly is on the forearm. The tendon travels inside the forearm on the side of the small finger and crosses the wrist. It adheres to the bone of the wrist, the pisiform, as well as the bone of the fifth hand. Palmaris longus tendon The palmaris longus tendon is a tendon with very little function in the hand. About a quarter of the population does not have this tendon. The rest has different sizes of this tendon. His muscle belly is on the forearm. Travel to the wrist and join the fascia in the palm. This tendon is often used to repair other tendons. Extensor carpi radialis brevis (ECRB) tendon The ECRB tendon is one of the 3 tendons, including ECRL and ECU, that act together to fold the wrist. His muscle belly is on the forearm and then travels to the thumb side of the wrist on the back of the forearm. Along with the ECRL, it adheres to the base of the bones of the hand. It is shorter and thicker than the ECRL. Extensor carpi radioalis longus (ECRL) tendon The ECRL tendon acts along with the ECRB and ECU to fold the wrist. ECRL and ECRB also help fold the wrist in the thumb direction. His muscle belly is on the forearm. It's thinner and longer than ECRB. It travels along the back aspect of the forearm and joins the base of the bones of the hand. carpi ulnaris (ECU) extender tendon The ECU tendon works with the ECRL and the ECRB to straighten the wrist. It differs from these two other tendons in which the wrist moves in the direction of the pink. His muscle belly is on the forearm. The tendon travels along the rear forearm, through a groove in the ulna, and joins the base of the bones of the hand. Biceps tendon The biceps muscle has tendons at each end of the muscle. On the shoulder, the two tendons join the large flat bone in the upper trunk called escapula. The muscle belly then crosses the entire upper arm and separates into two tendons. A tendon inserts on the bone of the forearm, the radio, and the second extends out to join the fascia along the top of the forearm. The tendons have 2 functions: bend the elbow and turn the palm of the hand toward the sky. Triceps Owner The triceps tendon is wider than most other tendons in the upper extremity. Your muscle abdomen is in the rear look of the upper arm. There are 3 muscle bells that join to make this tendon. Shape a tendon near the elbow and adhere to the more bony look, prominent of the rear elbow. The tendon straightens the elbow. Brachialis tendon The brachialis tendon works with the biceps and brachioradialis to bend the elbow. The muscle belly is in the upper arm and forms a thick tendon that binds to the inner aspect of the elbow. Its only function is to bend the elbow. Brachioradialis tendon The brachioradialis tendon bends elbow like brachialis and biceps. Unlike these others, the muscle belly is mainly at the top of the forearm and the tendon is attached to the wrist. In addition to bending the elbow can also help to rotate the wrist. (See image in Wrist Tendons) The supplanting tendon is at the origin of this short and wide muscle. The tendon sticks in the humerus near the elbow. Then the muscle connects to the radio. The main action is to turn the hand
